Youth on the Move

Connor McCulley

A 6th grade student at Lake Middle School in Uniontown, Ohio has been earning straight A’s from kindergarten until now. The work ethic was instilled in him through his parents, as well as the incentive of a new pair of shoes if he gets all A’s. This year he has his sights set on the Jordan 12 “Flu Game” release. Along with his great grades Connor enjoys playing basketball for his school as well as many accelerated travel teams and AAU teams. He always strives to get better, knowing there is always “someone better” out there. Working hard work on the court, as well as in the classroom, will pay off. Connor also enjoys drawing / sketching. Last school year, one of his drawings was chosen to represent the class in an exhibit and was then chosen to be put on permanent display in the Middle School Building.

This past summer he started volunteering alongside his grandparents at church. Once a month the church provides meals and clothing for the less fortunate in his community. He feels that helping others is a rewarding experience, knowing that he can make a difference in his community.

Connor plans to attend college one day and somehow incorporate his love of shoes, drawing, and creativity to become an entrepreneur and start his own business. He hasn’t decided exactly how or what that business would be, but he has the solid foundation and determination to strive to be anything he sets his mind to. This month’s “Youth on the Move” is really #MakingHisMark!
