The Air Jordan 13 debuted in 1997 and was one of the last models worn by Michael Jordan on the basketball court. The sneaker also served as the fifth silhouette worn by MJ during his chase for one of his six NBA championships. Originally launched in seven colors, the silhouette has evolved into one of the most diverse in Jordan Brand’s catalog. The sneaker has been seen in several key moments in pop culture including on the feet of Ray Allen in Spike Lee’s He Got Game film.
Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the shoe draws its Inspiration from that of a panther, which most closely resembles Michael’s tenacity, quickness and hunger on the basketball court. Key details on the shoe include a very light build to assist with speed and a holographic heel logo to match the look of a panther’s eye.
Since 1997 the Air Jordan 13 has made retro returns in 2004, 2005, 2008, 2011, 2013 and now 2015.
