Jordan Retro 1 Shoes

The sneaker culture became something of a phenomenon when the very first Air Jordan was released back in 1985. Nike designer, Peter Moore, took on the challenge to create a shoe for Basketball rookie, Michael Jordan, that was the perfect silhouette for performance and a template that would feature awesome colorway combinations.

Giving its high price tag, many sneakerheads hadn’t developed an affinity for waiting in lines to purchase a pair yet, so NBA decided to create a genius marketing plan by banning the shoe on court because of its non-traditional colorway. MJ wore the black and red Jordan I against protocol, causing the commissioner to fine him $5,000 every game he laced up. These forbidden guidelines gave the Jordan I major buzz and led Jordan to have some of his greatest moments in the NBA.
