
This weekend was Super Bowl weekend and there were also good college basketball games.
NFL: Finally, Super Bowl 43 came. The Steelers won the Super Bowl in a great finish (see Steelers article for more details on the game.)
NBA: The Celtics continue winning as it got its second 10 game winning streak of the season this weekend. In a tough game between division rivals, Lebron James scored 33 points as the Cavs defeated the Pistons 90-80. The Cavs currently have the best record in the NBA at 37-9. In unfortunate news, Andrew Bynum of the Lakers injured his knee in a collision with teammate Kobe Bryant and reportedly has a sprained knee. The NBA All-Star Game is almost here, and it will reunite Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and Phil Jackson once again on the same team.
ELSEWHERE: In college basketball, there were a lot of good games this weekend. The Big East has not failed to provide great games this season. No. 7 Louisville defeated West Virginia, No. 3 Pittsburgh defeated No. 22 Notre Dame 93-80, No. 8 Marquette defeated the slumping No. 23 Georgetown Hoyas 94-82 and No. 2 UCONN defeated Providence 94-61. Penn State was able to get its first victory ever at No. 9 Michigan State yesterday 72-68.
