Recently the list of qualified candidates came in and Wyclef didn’t make the cut. It’s assumed that it was because of residency requirements (a candidate must have lived in the country for five consecutive years leading up to the election).

Following the news of his disqualification, Jean posted this open letter at the Huffington Post:

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you today that the board of elections in Haiti has disqualified me from my run for the presidency of the country. Though I disagree with the ruling, I respectfully accept the committee’s final decision, and I urge my supporters to do the same. We must all honor the memories of those we’ve lost — whether in the earthquake, or at anytime — by responding peacefully and responsibly to this disappointment.

I was inspired to run for president because I know Haiti can become great with the right leadership, and I believe I could be that leader; but, ultimately, we must respect the rule of law in order for our island to become the great nation we all aspire for it to be.

I want to assure my countrymen that I will continue to work for Haiti’s renewal; though the board has determined that I am not a resident of Haiti, home is where the heart is — and my heart has and will always be in Haiti. This ruling just tells me that I can’t officially seek the office of president. More importantly, there is no one who can tell me to stop my work in Haiti, and there is no one who could. I think of my daughter, Angelina, and it makes me want to redouble my efforts to help give all the children in Haiti better days.

I also want to honor the memory of my father, a minister; I know that he would tell me that even though I’ve faced a setback, I must continue in all my good-faith efforts to help Haiti turn a corner to a better and brighter future. Do not think that my role in the future of Haiti is over; it’s just a different role than I had anticipated it to be.

Rest assured, this isn’t the end of my efforts to help improve my beloved country but only marks a new beginning.

Dash’s Manhattan duplex was auctioned off at a foreclosure sale yesterday (July 28th) for $5.5 million dollars. Dash originally purchased the properties for $3.87 million in 2004.

NBA player Lorenzen Wright’s body has been found in outside of Memphis, Tennessee earlier this week. Police investigators phoned Wright’s father, Herb, on Wednesday afternoon (July 28) to break the bad news. Wright, who was just 34 years old, was last seen on July 18 when he was expected to fly out of town. His family filed a missing person report July 22.

Rapper Rick Ross has been getting a lot of attention lately with his new song titled “BMF”. In which the rapper speaks on gangsters Big Meech & Larry Hoover. Last week in Chicago, Ross was approached by the Hoover Family, cause they felt a form of disrespect about the record. Now Black Mafia Family (B.M.F.) founder Big Meech’s mother recently touched upon the issue during an interview on Atlanta’s V103 radio station with the Frank and Wanda Morning Show.
Their mother spoke about how the family is coping with her two sons being incarcerated and how Big Meech felt about the song B.M.F.

“I had no problem with the song. I understand that this is an artist doing his thing. You know what I’m saying?,” Ms. Flenory stated. “So I had no problem with the song. I felt this was a way of acknowledging Meech and keeping his name out there. Not making him one of the forgotten souls.”

According to Ms. Flenory, Big Meech also loves the song.

Yankees owner George Steinbrenner died at the age of 80 today. Steinbrenner had a heart attack, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Fla., and died at about 6:30 a.m.

George was ‘The Boss,’ make no mistake,” Hall of Famer Yogi Berra said. “He built the Yankees into champions, and that’s something nobody can ever deny. He was a very generous, caring, passionate man. George and I had our differences, but who didn’t? We became great friends over the last decade and I will miss him very much.”

Behind bars for a probation violation in March, DMX will soon be free as soon as tomorrow. His arrest was caused by his regularly used drugs during a check-in with his probation officer; which then caused a Maricopa County Court judge to sentence DMX to six months in jail. Even though X will be released tomorrow, he is still tied to the legal system due to the fact that he was also placed on 20 month’s probation by the judge during sentencing.

Just a day after celebrating his second ring with a parade, Andrew Bynum got his right knee drained for the third time since he tore his meniscus nearly two months ago in the first round of the playoffs against Oklahoma City. Bynum’s knee was drained of approximately the same amount of fluid that was removed in his previous procedures prior to Games 1 and 5 of the NBA Finals, and he plans on undergoing surgery to fully repair the joint “around” July 18 after he travels to the World Cup in South Africa on June 28.

Last week (Friday, June 18th) Kanye and Suge appeared in NY court to try and come to a settlement revolving around a 2005 club shooting. Suge Knight, is taking Kanye West to court for a shooting that happened at at Kanye’s pre-MTV Video Music Awards party at the Shore Club. Apparently Suge suffered blood loss, but also lost a 15 karat diamond stud earring valued at $135,000. Suge holds West responsible for the shooting since it was his party.

Coach Doc Rivers said he has not made a decision on whether to walk away from the Boston Celtics or stay.

“I’m not going to say which way I’m leaning, and I am one way, but I can look you in the eye and tell you I have not made a decision,” he said. “We’ve only had one small conversation and we’re going to do that in the next week or so.”

Rivers also admitted that he’s already thought about his potential post-coaching career, including his desire to work a limited TV broadcast schedule that would keep him active, but also allow the freedom to see his kids play.

Retired NBA player Manute Bol, known as one of the tallest players in the league’s history, died Saturday morning (June 19). He was being treated for severe kidney trouble and a painful skin condition. Bol was drafted into the NBA in 1985 in the second round by the Washington Bullets. Two years later, the Bullets drafted the 5 ft. 3 in. point guard Muggsy Bogues, pairing the tallest and shortest players in league history on the court for one season.

The Boston Celtics defeated the Los Angeles Lakers Thursday night 96-89 to even up the NBA Finals 2-2. Pierce scored 19 points, Kevin Garnett had 13 and Ray Allen bounced back from a seven-quarter shooting slump to score 12 points for Boston. Despite getting up there in age, it was the Celtics who played with more determination and will to win, out hustling the Lakers all night. Garnett and Pierce didn’t rejoin Allen on the court until there was 2:51 left. Bryant scored 10 of the Lakers’ last 12 points, hitting all three free throws to make it 92-86 after he was fouled attempting a 3-pointer with 1:08 left. Then Rondo stole a pass from Bryant and took it the length of the court for a layup that made it an eight-point lead with 32 seconds left. The Lakers will look to rebound Sunday night as these two teams lock horns once again in Boston for game 5.

Today Apple kicked off its annual developers conference with CEO Steve Jobs, who introduced the newest version of the company’s popular smartphone iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 will be “the thinnest smartphone on the planet” at 9.3 mm thick, 24 % thinner than the iPhone 3GS, the company’s current model. The phone will also have a front-facing camera for video conferencing, and the camera on the back will have an LED flash, Jobs said. The phone will have a 5 megapixel camera with a backside illuminated sensor, which he said is fairly new to smartphones.

As the conference went on Jobs then introduced Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, who said Netflix is launching a free app for the iPhone, which will be available this summer and will let users download and watch movies on the go.

During an economic time such as this, “free” citizens and businesses are not the only ones being hit hard. In fact, prison systems across the nation have been forced to put their creative thinking caps on in an effort to maintain peace in the overcrowded jails and prisons while simultaneously attempting to turn some type of profit.Wardens across the nation came up with a solution: profit from the sale of non-traditional commissary items. Traditional commissary items include cup-of-soup, chips, Ramen noodles and the like. Thanks to a 2006 joint venture with the leader in food-service, Aramark Corp., prisons across the nation are starting to see very lucrative figures pushing them further into the black.
The service is provided via online for easy access. The inmate or their relatives can place orders for care packages on Aramarks’ “iCare” website, http://www.icaredirect.com/en-US/CorEastern/DurhamCommissary/. The type of care package available depends on the jail or prison rules and regulations.

For example, Durham County Commissary offers a “Home Cookin” package ($79.99) containing an assortment of Nissin Ramen noodles, honeybuns, oatmeal, salt and pepper, peanut butter, grape jelly, Frito Lay chips and other things. The Philadelphia Prison System County Commissary doesn’t offer this particular package but instead offers something that many prisons didn’t: “iCare Apparel”. This particular option allows the purchase of Nike and Reebok shoes, undergarments, socks, bathing products, and both short and long sleeve shirts. Common care packages include “The Chocolate Lovers Pack”, “Low Sugar”, “Breakfast Getaway”, “Birthday Bag” and “Health and Beauty Comfort”. Prices generally range anywhere from $15.99 for the “Cookie Monster” package to $99.99 for “The Big Bag”.

Allhiphop.com reports that critics are worried that, “the service will trigger jealousies, promote unhealthy diets and coddle prisoners.” However with systems such as The Indiana State Prison System, currently estimated to generate over $2 million from the sales this year alone and the Bexar County jail in San Antonio, Texas, which projects its revenue could hit $500,000, a major push back from the prison systems will most likely be felt.

Starting with quarterback Sam Bradford going to the St. Louis Rams, the first NFL draft in prime time was a showcase for the Big 12. The Oklahoma junior became the eighth quarterback since 2001 taken atop the draft.

“You have no idea how excited I am just to have the opportunity to come to St. Louis and play my NFL career there,” Bradford said in a conference call. “It’s just a blessing and I can’t wait to get there and get to work.”

Nebraska’s Suh went to the Detroit Lions with the second pick and was greeted by “SUH, SUH,” as he walked onto the stage holding a Lions jersey. The 6-foot-4, 307-pound Suh was the first defensive player to win the AP player of the year award since its inception in 1998. He had 4½ sacks against Texas in the Big 12 title game and finished with 12 sacks for the season.

Sen. Charles Schumer announced Sunday that several major airlines have promised not to charge passengers for carry-on baggage. Two weeks ago, local carrier Spirit Airlines became the first in the United States to propose charging passengers $45 to store luggage in overhead bins.

“In the last week we have gained tremendous momentum in our effort to keep carry-on bags free,” said Schumer. “We have begun to put the brakes on runaway and out-of-control airline fees. I am pleased some of the major carriers have responded to our efforts and have agreed not to charge for something that has always been free.”

Spirit argued that the fee, which applies to flights booked for August 1 or later, is part of a strategy to make boarding an aircraft faster and easier. The low-cost airline, which has advertised 1-cent ticket prices on some short-haul routes, said it plans to offset the increase by reducing fees for checked luggage and some fares.

The goal is to ensure that passengers are not penalized for bringing items such as medication, food and laptop computers on board, the senators said.

The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title.”

NAS ORDERED TO PAY KELIS AGAIN

According to TMZ.com rapper Nas was recently ordered by a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge to relinquish over $250,000.00 to R&B artist and soon to be ex-wife, Kelis. He has been ordered to pay $47,249.42 in back child support, $40,454 in back spousal support and $155,787.28 to cover 90% of her legal fees.

The rapper must also pay an ongoing amount of $10,000 a month as payment towards the $299,015 he owes her in spousal support. The last fee added was for Kelis’ accounting bills amounting to $48,549.83.

Both Nas and Kelis are preparing to release albums this year. Nas’ album Distant Relatives, with reggae artist Damien Marley, drops May 18th and is expected to gain notoriety on the charts. Kelis’ album Flesh Tone will hit stores July 6th.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall has been traded to the Miami Dolphins for a second-round pick in next week’s NFL draft and an additional second-round pick in 2011. Nicki Minaj has fired her manager Debra Antney, who is also the mother of rapper Waka Flocka Flame.

According to Waka Flocka’s mother, the news came when she received a series of letters, banning her from doing business
with Minaj. “I received a letter, which was a suspension,” said Antney in a recent interview. “The next letter that came in was a cease and desist in doing all business with Nicki Minaj from Nicki’s attorney.”

Debra Antney is currently Gucci Mane’s manager and CEO of So Icey/Mizay Entertainment, an Asylum/Warner Bros affiliate.

A videowas posted on Wednesday on a radical web-site showing a U.S. soldier captured in Afghanistan last June. Pfc. Bowe Robert Bergdahl, 23, disappeared from his combat outpost in southeastern Paktika province sometime after he finished his guard duty shift on the night of June 29. The authenticity of the video has not been verified and the US military has not made any comment to this video yet. The Taliban has previously released two other videos of Bergdahl, the last one in December.

In Moscow, Russia this morning investigators combing two subway stations which were attacked by two female suicide bombers. The explosions killed at least 38 people and wounded 65 others, Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry said. The casualty tolls were fluctuating immediately after the blasts.

The first blast occurred at 7:56 a.m. local time at Lubyanka subway station, killing at least 23 people and wounding 18, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on its Web site. The Lubyanka station is near the Kremlin and Federal Security Service headquarters.

Another blast happened about 40 minutes later at Park Kultury station, on the same train line. The ministry reported 12 dead in the second explosion, with 20 more wounded.

Although the Chechen rebels have yet to claim responsibility, Bortnikov’s statement is a strong implication that Chechen rebels fighting for independence were behind the strike.

ACTOR ROBERT COLP DIES

Robert Culp, the actor who rose to fame as secret agent Kelly Robinson on the groundbreaking 1960s TV series “I Spy” and later played Ray Romano’s father-in-law on “Everybody Loves Raymond,” has died. He was 79.

Culp collapsed near the lower entrance to Runyon Canyon Park, a popular hiking area in Hollywood, according to a Los Angeles Police official.

He was pronounced dead at a hospital a half hour later, Officer Rosaria Herrera said. It was unclear if the fall caused his death, and the coroner has opened an investigation, she said.

President Obama and Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi battered and cajoled a majority of Democrat House members to pass one of the most far-reaching and expensive entitlement programs in our history. The speaker said Sunday, “We’re doing this for the American people.”

It would be far more correct if she said we’re doing what we think is best for the American people. According to polls, most Americans don’t want this plan.

For those who have health insurance, you are in all probability going to pay more and get less. The American public is getting a tax increase — and not just the rich ($200,000 is defined as rich). The so-called “Cadillac” health insurance plans will be taxed, and there are a variety of other taxes on businesses that will undoubtedly be passed on to consumers.

Doctors and hospitals are going to be paid less for services. Forty-six cents out of every dollar spent on medicine is paid for by you the taxpayers.

It is true some Americans will benefit. By 2014, according to the Congressional Budget Office, this bill will give 19 million uninsured Americans subsidies averaging $6,000 to help pay premiums and other medical charges. This is in addition to the federal government already picking up the tab for nearly 100 million Americans through Medicare (the elderly) and Medicaid (the poor, disabled and many children).

The smart people in D.C., including the president and the speaker will be long gone (as well as a bunch of Democrats who will lose in November) when the debts come due. But our children and grandchildren will be left with the tab.

T.I RELEASED THIS MONTH

Back in October of 2007, T.I was arrested for gun possession which led to the rapper going to prison in May of last year. After serving his sentence in Arkansas, T.I. was released in the final week of 2009 and has returned to his home state of Georgia where he resided in a halfway house.

This week it’s been revealed that T.I. will likely be a free man this month. T.I.’s legal team says that he’ll be released from the halfway house on March 26, 2010.

Allen Iverson’s time with the Philadelphia 76ers may be coming to an end. In a statement, the Sixers revealed that Iverson has been given a leave from the team indefinitely to deal with a personal issue related to the health of his young daughter.

“At this time, we feel that it is in the best interest of the Sixers, Allen and his family that he be allowed to deal with a very serious issue that is far greater than the game of basketball,” team president and general manager Ed Stefanski told SI.com.

Iverson missed five games and the 2010 All-Star Game in which he was voted to start in earlier this month to deal with his daughter’s health problems. There are also rumors that the team is considering cutting ties with Iverson.

On Thursday (February 18) in Los Angeles Chris Brown appeared before a judge for an update on his probation. The judge stated that he’s doing well. Chris Brown appeared before a judge in Los Angeles on Thursday (February 18) for an update on his probation. He’s doing well, a judge said.

According to the report, Brown has completed 17 out of 52 group sessions for domestic violence, not missing a single one. And, has completed 32 days of community service. He also received similar praise from the judge at his last progress review in November.

KNICKS GET TRACY MCGRADY

In a three-team deal this week, the New York Knicks picked Tracy McGrady also known as T-Mac. In December, T-Mac was given an indefinite leave from the Rockets after his camp and the team’s management agreed to work together to deal him to another team.

“I have tremendous respect for [owner] Leslie Alexander and have enjoyed playing for the Rockets over the last six years,” McGrady wrote. “It has definitely been the most profound part of my career. I’ve learned a lot about myself from various situations, both good and bad that have occurred here. It was my hope when I came to Houston that I wouldn’t leave, but I do understand this is the business side of basketball.”

According to NBA.com, the deal will put the Knicks $30 million below the salary cap, freeing up enough cap room to make reasonable offers to at least two major free agents this summer.

Rapper Drake made a comment on the accusations regarding fraudulent bookings. “It has been brought to my attention that false promoters and booking agents are illegally using my name and likeness to promote concerts and club appearances for their own financial gain,” wrote the rapper. “It is frustrating for me to hear that many of my fans, who like myself are innocent victims in these scams, have been misled due to the greed of these promoters. I apologize to any fan that has been a victim of these circumstances or feels let down by false advertising.”

This isn’t the first time Drake’s likeness has been used for fraudulent purposes. Last June, a fake Drake album was made available through online retailers for purchase, though the Toronto rapper had nothing to do with it.

He reportedly shot videos for “Da Da Da,” “Knockout” and “Get a Life” from Wayne’s recently-released rock album Rebirth, and an unreleased song from Wayne’s forthcoming record, Tha Carter IV. Director David Rousseau of Creativeseen said the rapper and his crew began filming at 9AM on Friday (February 5) and wrapped at 8AM on Super Bowl Sunday (February 7).

“There isn’t a title for it,” Rousseau said of the unreleased song. “Honestly, I can’t tell you too much about it. That was a complete secret. We had to kick everyone off the set for it. No photography, even their official photographer had to leave. That’s under wraps. The album is still under production. It’s a crazy song.”

IVERSON BEING SUED

NBA star, Allen Iverson is now being sued according to the Detroit Free Press. A mans by the name of Guy Walker filed a lawsuit recently claiming he suffers from “severe pain, emotional distress and mental anguish” due to injuries he suffered during an altercation with Iverson’s crew at a local nightspot called South Beach Pizza Bar back in April 2008. Walker claims a man named Antwuan Clisey, who was working as a member of Iverson’s security detail, initiated an unprovoked attack that cleared the bar, and Iverson did nothing to stop it. He says he suffered “an orbital blowout fracture of the eye” as well as other injuries.

Walker is seeking $2.5 million, plus damages, in the suit.

WAYNE’S SENTENCE POSTPONED

Due to Wayne’s lawyer explained to the judge at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office that Weezy has scheduled dental surgery set for February 12th. They also stated Wayne would be ready to go report to jail on February 25th, but instead the Judge Charles H. Solomon set March 2nd as the official date.

“I don’t want this to get pushed back anymore,” Judge Solomon said. “This is the last adjournment.”

TOYOTA APOLOGIZES BUT NO RECALL

Akio Toyoda chief executive of Toyota Motors apologized Friday for the problems that led to the company’s recall of more than 8 million cars, but it did not announce another recall of its popular Prius Hybrid, despite reports of brake problems. The recall affected 8.1 million vehicles worldwide and will cost the company an estimated $2 billion in repair costs and lost sales due to a sticking accelerator.

Toyota has far greater financial resources than most of its rivals, such as: General Motors, Ford Motor (F, Fortune 500) and Chrysler Group. But the quality issues do pose a financial challenge for the company. Friday credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s placed its debt on credit watch, meaning it faces the risk of a downgrade that could raise its borrowing costs.

In the complaint filed it states Hov the investment firm didn’t take the deal, which made Hov pay extremely high interest rates on the loan.

“This action arises out of the efforts by defendants to bleed additional funds from [the] plaintiff,” the paperwork read. “Defendants embarked on a bad faith course of conduct.”

After a 17-year wait, future boxing Hall of Famer, Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins and Roy “The Terminator” Jones Jr., have set a rematch in early April. Hopkins said he’s been itching for a rematch for years, and says it’ll be different this time.

“A rematch with Roy has been in the back of my mind for a long time and it’s finally going to happen,” said Hopkins. “I have accomplished a lot in my career since that night in Washington, DC in 1993, and I am going to end this thing between me and Roy once and for all.”

“We’re giving the fans what they want to see,” added Jones. “They deserve this fight and why not supply the fans with what they demand? Now I can finally terminate the ‘Executioner’ once and for all. My new nickname for this fight will be: ‘The Terminator.’ ”

Next week, both fighters will participate in a press tour with stops in New York and Los Angeles.

The NBA suspended Washington Wizards guards, Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton, for the remainder of the NBA season without pay on Wednesday (January 27), as punishment for their widely publicized gun incident in December.According to reports, Arenas is likely to receive jail time. He faces up to five years, but prosecutors are recommending that he should serve no more than six months in jail.

We have all been hurt due to the devastating 7.0 earthquake that shook the nation of Haiti early this week. Well it seems that Haiti’s Goodwill Ambassador Wyclef Jean led a call to action campaign where followers were urged to text “Yele” to 501501 in order to donate $5.

“Since the disaster occurred around 5 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday and [by] midnight [Wednesday] we cleared $1 million,” he said, according to MTV. “These types of donations really were spawned by the 2004 tsunami relief effort, and the $1 million that Yele has raised already is a watershed event.”

Other celebrities have offered to help with efforts, while President Barack Obama has pledged $100 million in aid from the United States.

Soon after, people took different messages from the video and wondered if the idea of the images from the video were in reference to the occult or other secret societies. One of the images in question was a Crucifix placed between two bullets (see below). In a recent interview with Ed Lover, Jay-Z spoke on the mild uproar.

9TH WONDER TO TEACH DUKE UNIVERSITY

Producer 9th Wonder known for his compilations with Little Brother and other various artists now moving to his next project, which happens to be helping teach an African-American Studies course at Duke University alongside Professor Mark Anthony Neal. According to the Professor’s blog, 9th will participate in teaching “Sampling Soul,” a course that focuses on music from the Civil Rights and Black Power movements.

“The class is studying soul music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, the neighborhoods it came out of and where was the influence for this song to come out of,” said 9th Wonder in a video interview [view below]. “I’m excited man, it’s a new frontier for me. I’m always excited for new frontiers.”

On January 3, 2010 at St. Joe’s Hagan Arena, VILLA hosted our third annual basketball event. This year we went bigger with the 4,000 seat arena at St. Joe’s University. The venue change was definitely different because this wasn’t in the heart of the city anymore, but the fans definitely came out for this great event. We had 4 great matchups between some of the East Coast’s best high school basketball teams, and saw a sneak preview of Jayvaughn Pinkston (from New York’s Bishop Loughlin), who will be playing for Villanova later this year. According to the Hip-Hop Enquirer, former rapper Plies stopped in the middle of his performance at the “Jingle Bash 2009″ concert, to tell one luck fan who happened to be 18-year-old Khambrea Johnkins, who attends Carver High School in Atlanta if she wanted to attend college after graduation he would pay her entire tuition. The 18-year-old turned out to be a great student who maintains a 4.0 GPA, and wanted to become a nurse after attending the University of Miami. The school is approximately $52,000.00 per year, so her four-year college stint will cost over $200,000.

“I thought I wouldn’t be able to go to the school because the tuition was so expensive, but Plies has made my dream come true,” Johnkins said.

The popular animated series “The Boondocks” is set to return to TV in the New Year, its creator Aaron McGruder said. The popular yet controversial comic strip-turned-cartoon debuted in 2005 on the Cartoon Network and ran for two seasons before its end. During the second season of “The Boondocks”, two episodes were banned without any official word from the network. According to reports, the banned episodes were heavily critical of BET. A source told HipHopDX at the time that BET had been pressured Sony (the studio behind The Boondocks) to ban the episodes and threatened legal action.

Rapper T.I. was released from prison on Tuesday after seven months, his attorney confirmed. He was sentenced to a year and a day in March 2009 resulting from weapons charges related to purchasing machine guns and silencers. INFRARED TELESCOPE LAUNCHED TODAY

NASA launched a new telescope into space on today to scan the cosmos for undiscovered objects, including asteroids and comets that might threaten Earth.

“The last time we mapped the whole sky at these particular infrared wavelengths was 26 years ago,” said Edward “Ned” Wright of UCLA, the principal investigator of the mission. He was referring to WISE’s predecessor, the Infrared Astronomical Satellite, which launched in 1983 and discovered six comets. Mission leaders expect WISE to find hundreds of asteroids and comets with orbits that come close to crossing Earth’s path. By measuring the objects’ infrared light, the telescope also should help determine their size and composition — data that may help astronomers learn how often Earth can expect to be struck by a hurtling asteroid.

NAS ARRESTED ON DUI CHARGES

Nas was apparantly busted on a DUI charge back in September and was later released. According to TMZ, the rapper Nas was riding with his brother in Georgia in September, during a routine stop, police smelled marijuana from inside the vehicle, and asked Nas to step out of the vehicle. He then performed a field sobriety test on Nas, which he failed and was subsequently arrested. While TMZ says he was cleared of the charges, other reports indicate that Nas is scheduled to appear in court at a future date. Chec k out the video below

In the end, JayVaughn Pinkston went with his first choice. Pinkston on Thursday committed to Villanova head coach Jay Wright, the initial choice for the 6-foot-6, 230-pound combo forward from Brooklyn Bishop Loughlin High School.

“I’m very excited to be committing to Villanova,” Pinkston said. “It’s one of the top programs in the country. I want to play with and against the best players in the country and playing for Villanova will afford me that opportunity. I’m excited and thankful.”

Pinkston is the top player in the city and is ranked No. 15 among power forwards and No. 67 overall in the Class of 2010 by Rivals. He averaged 24.6 points last season at Loughlin. He chose Villanova over Tennessee, Marquette, Seton Hall and St. John’s.

“He’s a Jamal Mashburn clone,” said New York recruiting expert Tom Konchalski. “He has very soft hands. He has very good skill with the ball. He can handle the ball on the perimeter. He’s not going to guard a perimeter player right now. He can pass the ball, can get to the basket, he can shoot 3’s. He has a strong body where he can post and score inside. He’s a really skilled player who has a mature understanding of the game.”

Why are people saying they may be the best Air Max Lebron 7 yet, you ask? This particular pair of the Lebron 7’s feature the old Cavalier blue/white upper with minimal orange accents on the heel, border of the swoosh and the tongue. The color way is timeless and would look good off the court. The shoe also features an orange full length Air Max sole that goes along with the accents of the sneaker. This detail has some saying that this is the best Leborn 7’s so far.

POLICE INVESTIGATES WOOD’S ACCIDENT

On Sunday (Nov.29), Tiger canceled a meeting between himself and investigators to get his side of what happened early Friday when he pulled out of his driveway in his Orlando neighborhood about 2:25 a.m. in a 2009 Cadillac SUV and struck a fire hydrant, then a tree. Woods suffered minor injuries. In a statement issued Sunday afternoon on his Web site, Woods offered no details of his wreck except to say he had cuts and bruises. Last week, a story in the National Enquirer alleged that Woods has been seeing a New York nightclub hostess. The Associated Press contacted the woman and reported that she denied having an affair with Woods. State police in Florida said Monday they will continue investigating a single-vehicle crash involving pro golfer Tiger Woods.

One of Jay-z’s most famous songs of historic rap career was a song titled “Money Ain’t Thang” where he raps about splurging and living the good life. Apparently, this most apply to Diddy, as well. The legendary music mogul and music icon recently turned 40 years old. However, Diddy turned 40 by spending $3 million on a birthday party. Yes, VILLA people $3 million in one night just for a birthday party. I know all of us could have put that money to better use, but it’s his money.

Why was it worth $3 million you ask? The party was champagne flooded; only the finest bottles of champagne were being popped at Diddy 40th extravaganza. The party was at the Plaza and only 500 specially invited guests were allowed to party with Diddy. Diddy created a fantasy garden of Eden themes room, with a $30,000 orchid display. Also, Diddy installed his own black dance floor and black chandelier, which were both costly. The party seemed like it was nice but $3million is a lot for party. He could have thrown a modest party, but we all know Diddy likes to spend the Benjamin’s. My VILLA people would you throw a party that cost an NBA contract?

DMX SUED FOR 1 MILLION?

According to TMZ, Thunder Promotions filed a lawsuit against the rapper last week, claiming fraud. DMX was scheduled to fight in a boxing match on December 12th in Birmingham, Alabama, but according to the promotions company, he backed out, because they refused to fix the fight. Although Coolio has stepped in to replace him, rapper’s manager Nakia Walker told TMZ that the rapper really does want to fight, fixed or not, but she’s forcing his hand, because “he’s a hip hop artist, not a boxer.”
