Album leaks have been a problem that has plagued the music industry since the internet became popular in the early 2000s. Before it was just tracks that leaked, these days, full albums make their way to the net before their release dates. 50 Cent became the latest victim. This week Before I Self Destruct hit the net. On Wednesday October 28, 50’s upcoming fourth studio album leaked almost a month before its planned November 23 release date. So far, 50 or Interscope has not commented on the situation. On the new album, 50 gets back to his hardcore gangsta rapping self, spitting tales of drug deals, murder, guns, and of course, does a little name dropping along the way. In one song, titled “So Disrespectful,” 50 goes at former comrades-turned-enemies, Young Buck and The Game. On the track, he calls Buck a drug addict and The Game jealous. Eminem shows up on a track titled “Psycho”, where the Detroit rapper and 50 trade verses about how crazy they both can be. Aside from Eminem, other collaborators include R. Kelly and Ne-Yo, while production includes Dr. Dre, Polow Da Don, and Tha Bizness. While the album is already on the net, the version being released through iTunes will include three bonus tracks, 50’s directorial debut “Before I Self Destruct,” and the Jam Master Jay documentary, “2 Turntables and a Mic: The Life and Death of Jam Master Jay.

The Phillies dominated the game from the start with great pitching from their ace Cliff Lee who is now 3-0 with a 0.54 earned run average in four postseason starts. He threw 122 pitches, and 80 for strikes. When the Phillies needed to score, they got two big home runs from their second baseman Chase Utley who hit one in third inning and one in the six inning off Sabathia. Who hadn’t allowed a home run to a left-handed hitter at the New Yankee Stadium all year. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been nervous playing this game,” Lee said. “I’ve already done the work - it’s game time, time to go out there and have fun and execute and let your skills take over.”

Antoine Walker former NBA stud and 3 point specialist has encountered some financial problems of late. According, to several newspaper and Internet reports Walker after making millions in the NBA is broke. In his 12 year NBA career Walker has made more than $110 million along with money coming from endorsements. During the last several months, the once millionaire athlete has been pursued by multiple financial institutions for unpaid debts. Walker owes approximately $4 million to debt collectors.

Walker financial troubles were brought to light in July, when he was arrested for writing bad checks to a casino in Lake Tahoe, California. Walker wrote $800,000 in fraudulent checks to the casino. Walker also faces felony check fraud charges in Las Vegas. All his financial trouble cannot be blamed on his obvious gambling problem; he supported about 70 friends and family members over his NBA career. I wonder if they will help him out in his time of need. This is a crazy ending to a once prominent career. I don’t know what the futures hold for Antoine Walker, but the VILLA wishes him the best of luck with his future.

We are all witnesses to the greatness of LeBron James. Arguably, the best player in the league today, he last left his mark within the NBA. LeBron is a freakish athlete standing 6’8 and about 260 pounds. Sounds like a football player, but he moves fluidly like a guard on the floor. Antoine Walker has earning a reported $110 million over the course of his 13-year NBA career, but is now apparently broke. According to the Boston Globe, Walkern was in a Las Vegas courtroom this week to answer to charges of fraud for writing bad checks to different casinos, totaling $1 million. The Globe also reports that Walker also owes J.P. Morgan Chase Bank $1.5 million, Wachovia Bank $1.5 million, American Express $53,000, and his former agent $450,000. That’s a total of over $4.5 million dollars. Walker has yet to publicly speak on the situation.

To start off, Jay-Z won the BET Hip-Hop Awards MVP of the Year trophy, beating Lil Wayne, Drake, T.I. and Kanye West. Hov also opened the show with a performance of “As Real as It Gets” with Young Jeezy. A law firm in Atlanta is reported suing rapper Ludacris after he allegedly stiffed them on legal fees. According to Courthouse News, Carlton Fields P.A. is suing the rapper and his Ludacris Foundation for unpaid legal fees and expenses of $61,820. The firm is suing for the cash, and court fees.

Just days after news broke that DNA profiling was to be used in Lil Wayne’s New York gun case, the rapper pleaded guilty in court on Thursday (October 22). He admitted guilt for a loaded 40-caliber handgun found on his tour bus back on on July 22, 2007. Weezy faces at least 3 1/2 years in prison if he is convicted of the original weapons-possession charges against him. He’s due back in court December 15.

Mike Tyson reunited with Evander Holyfield on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on Friday (October 16) despite biting his ear off over a decade ago. They shook hands shook several times during their interview, which Tyson said was the first time they spoke in length since bitting incident. During Tyson’s first appearance earlier in the week, he said that the initial apology following the incident was not sincere. When he saw Holyfield this time, he didn’t apologize. Instead, he praised him.

“This is a beautiful guy,” he said, holding Holyfield’s arm affectionately for several seconds. “I just want you to know it’s just been a pleasure … being acquainted with you.”

Asked by Winfrey if he was still missing part of his ear, Holyfield pointed to it and said, “Just a little bit.”

Shyne was set to be released from prison on Tuesday (October 6), but it seem that his released has been postponed due to his immigration status. Rapper Shyne will be released from prison today, after spending approximately 10 years behind bars. Shyne, 30, was convicted of shooting a bystander at a New York nightclub following a dispute between Sean Combs and another person. Before his untimely incarceration, Shyne without a doubt solidified himself as one of the best rappers. Shyne will serve 2 years of probation upon his release. Rappers from all over are welcoming Shyne home with open arms. Hypeman/rapper/actor Flava Flav is planning on another reality show. After three successful seasons of “Flavor of Love”, the 50 year old is planning on going back to high school, since he never passed the 10th grade. This should be very interesting.

I just want to show the world it’s never too late to get your diploma, and show kids they should stay in school and not wait until you’re old to get it,” Flav told Access Hollywood. “Everybody sees me as this big love mogul. Now I got a baby girl, I’ve been there and done that and now it’s time for the next episode.”

Artist Eve also known as Eve Jihan Jeffers has shut down her clothing line, Fetish, for the second time. A few years ago, the 30-year-old artist put a hold on the launch of the “Fetish” line after a dispute with her apparel licensee Inovo Group. Then last year, she said she was revamping and relaunching the line for the third time. But you know what they say….third time is always a charm. Since then Eve has shifted to acting, she’s appeared in several films and even landed her own show on UPN, but it was canceled after three seasons. However, it seems that the collection is headed to failure, since she has shifting her focus back to music and acting. Eve is slated to appear in a new film called “Whip It” due in October, and in a guest spot on the Fox sitcom “Glee.” Also she is working with the Ruff Ryders to gear up for another album.

I cannot explain what is going on with Brad Lidge, mentally or physically this season, but he seems like another closer than how he performed last year. This time last year, Brad Lidge was recording save after save for the Philadelphia Phillies as he went 48 for 48 in save opportunities, leading to a World Series title. This year it seems like he is just going through rough times as going into last night’s game he had already blew 10 save opportunities. Lidge entered the ninth inning with a 6-5 lead versus the Florida Marlins. He gave up a double and walked a batter, which led to the game-tying and game-winning runs. Lidge has 11 blown saves this season and is not looking good for the most important time of the season……playoffs. Hopefully he can get his swagger back in time for the post-season or the Phiilies will be in a little trouble if they are planning to repeat.

Eminem’s music publishing company Eight Mile Style LLC. is claiming that iTunes put 93 of Em’s song for sale on it’s online store without authorization. Eight Mile Style LLC. is alleging copyright infringement against Apple Inc. and since a deal was not agreed upon and the case will head to court this morning.

Rapper Lil Boosie has just pleaded guilty to his third offense of marijuana possession, which he was charged on Tuesday (September 22). He has been sentenced to two years in prison, but must serve at least one year before he can be released. He will be set for sentencing on November 9th. However, the judge warned the rapper to stay outta trouble while he’s free, or the agreed sentence would prolonged.

The economic stimulus plans looks like it is helping citizens of Pennsylvania since the beginning of summer according to an article written online for the Philadelphia Inquirer. John Barrett (49), Michael Volpe (61), and Randy Myers (32) were all unemployed before the package and are now all back to work. Even though some jobs are being created from the package, a lot of people still have questions on if the money is reaching those in need. Seeing the creation of jobs lets others know that the money has reached the street level, but is it enough? Philadelphia is set to receive $90.6 million from the stimulus package and even though many may feel like it has not reached “street” level, it has, it is just needs to be spent wisely so it is not being seen as fast as many would like it to. Even though The Blueprint 3 was leaked all over the web about 2 weeks it released and the album was on sale at retailers before the official release date, Jay-Z still managed to come out with another No. 1 album. The Blueprint 3 sold about 476,000 copies in its opening week, making this album Jay-Z’s 11th No. 1 album during his music career. The Beatles hold the record with 19 No. 1 albums. 476,000 copies of the album might sound like a little bit, but during these economic times, not a lot of music artists can do those numbers in one week, so congrats go to Jay-Z.

Floyd “Money” Mayweather’s big return fight is this Saturday (September 19). His opponent is Juan Manuel Marquez, in the HBO Pay-Per-View bout. Anyone that has seen the HBO special “Mayweather/Marquez 24/7″ knows that both boxers are training very hard for the big bout. Mayweather recently announced that WWE star, Triple H, will be escorting him to the ring for his big fight. A lot of people think that ATV’s are meant more for the country-side or areas where there are really no cars around. They are also meant to be used for extreme sports, such as during the X-Games, which is featured on ESPN. A specific neighborhood in Philadelphia has had an on-going problem with teens and young adults using them for all purposes, except what they are really meant for. Earlier this week, teens in the Kensington section of Philadelphia were blocking Hurley Street near Ontario and man driving a Mercury Sable honked the horn and yelled at them to move. When he did this, they started throwing objects at his car and chased him until he crashed into other parked cars. As the man was fleeing the scene, the group on the ATV’s and dirt bikes chased him and eventually ran him over. Residents in the area have complained about the use of these motorized vehicles because the teens using them also are seen using drugs, doing graffiti, and even drinking alcohol while using them. Hopefully the police can start a program to crackdown on these actions by the teens and stop these acts of violence.

Anyone that saw the MTV VMA’s this past Sunday knows that Jay-Z’s performance with Alicia Keyz was a great one, despite the actions of singer Lil’ Mama. She got on stage during their performance and was just bopping her head to the song and feeling for the moment. She was basically out of play and did not look right on the stage with the 2 stars. Lil Mama went on MTV News to discuss the situation and explain her actions. During the interview she said that she was “caught in the moment” and got on stage because Jay-Z was repping New York and she was feeling the vibe. After she got home and notice what she did, Lil Mama regrets it because she notice Jay’s reaction. So, Lil Mama apologized and even asked for a one on one with both of them.

Anyone that has any type of connection to TV, radio, or even newspapers probably already knows what happen last night at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City between Kanye West and Taylor Swift. The nominees for Best Female Music Video were Pink, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Kelly Clarkson. The winner of the award was……….Taylor Swift. As she came on stage and was about to make her acceptance speech, here came little old Kanye West. He took the mic and said that Beyonce “had one of the best videos of all time.” He felt that Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” was the winner of the award. His actions were un-called for and a shame as Taylor Swift worked just as hard as anyone to win the award. He was actually booted from the award show as well. What do you think?

It has been nearly two years since Kanye’s mother past from complications of cosmetic surgical procedure. Well it seems that her death has not been forgotten in the state of California. This week California created a law called the “Donda West Law” which prohibit cosmetic facial surgery unless a physical exam is conducted 30 days before the procedure, and written clearance is provided.

Anyone that missed last night’s game between the University of Miami and Florida State missed a great one. A lot of talk was behind Miami to see if the football program was back. The game kept going back and fourth and in the last quarter Miami was up by 4 points when Florida State had a final drive to win the game. Miami’s defense was ready to play and sealed the victory for the Canes. This was a great game and probably the best game of the opening weekend. Miami QB, Jacory Harris, threw for 386 yards with 2 TDs, 2 Int, and a rushing touchdown. Look out this week for Ohio State versus USC.

After T-Pain got off, the next DJ immediately played D.O.A. and a couple of other Jay-Z track during his set. This will be interesting how it unfolds.

Green Bay Packers GM Ted Thompson isn’t ruling out potential interest in Michael Vick.
Asked on Tuesday about the possibility of signing Vick, Thompson said the team looks “at all options at all times” but didn’t want to speculate about the odds of the team actually pursing him.

Thompson typically is coy about the team’s plans, so it wasn’t immediately clear whether his comments indicated sincere in Vick. Vick has been conditionally reinstated in the NFL after completing a 23-month federal sentence for running a dog fighting ring. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has said Vick can sign with and begin playing by week 6 of the NFL season.

More than two dozen NFL teams have said they have no interest in signing the 29-year-old Vick. The others have declined comment or taken a stance like that of the Packers.

The Hip Hop community has lost another great artist, Titus “Baatin” Glover of the Detroit based group Slum Village body. Baatin was found dead in his home Saturday (August 1). The circumstances of Glover’s death remain unclear. Talib Kweli along with others have begun to pay their respects via Twitter, with Talib saying

“I’m at a loss right now. Hi-Tek was set to dj for Slum Village tonight. RIP Baatin. More influential than you can imagine. Slum Village forever.”

Michael Vick may have gotten a break with the NFL commissioner this week, but money issues continue. According to the Associated Press, the NFL player’s New York-based bankruptcy lawyers are asking a judge to approve $1.5 million for their fees. The Crowell and Moring law firm originally asked for nearly $2.7 million, but they reduced their request after the U.S. trustee and one of Vick’s major creditors filed court papers saying the amount was excessive.

After months of anticipation, Favre who is nearly 40, has decided to remain retired from the NFL, rather than become a Vikings starting quarterback.

“It was the hardest decision I’ve ever made,” Favre said. “I didn’t feel like physically I could play at a level that was acceptable. I would like to thank everyone, including the Packers, Jets and Vikings — but, most importantly, the fans.”

Favre’s decision was made after consulting with former coaches Mike Holmgren and Andy Reid, and despite the lobbying efforts of Vikings players.

According to ESPN, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has reportedly decided on a conditional reinstatement that would allow Vick to attend training camp if he signs with a team. However, he could be suspended for the first four games of the 2009 season. Goodell met with Vick, his agent and two other members of his camp, but nothing was officially confirmed.

If Vick isn’t signed by an NFL team, ESPN reporter Chris Mortensen says he’ll have an option to sign with the upstart United Football League, set to begin play in October and finish its inaugural season on Thanksgiving weekend. Under UFL policy, he would be free to sign with the NFL once the UFL season ends.

There may be a new Harry Porter film out, but a squad a guinea pigs packed enough power to knock the wizard out the four eyed wiz kid. While the Harry Potter movie only did $30 million, G Force killed the box office this weekend with $32.2 million in its debut weekend.

This past week was a tragedy for the family of former boxing champion Vernon Forrest. Forrest was shot Saturday night (July 25) during an apparent robbery.

According to reports, Forrest was the victim of an attempted carjacking, and was shot “multiple times in the back”, said police, as she attempted to chase at least two men who had tried to steal his Jaguar when he stopped to put air in his tires at an Atlanta gas station.

“It’s 100 percent confirmed. He’s dead,” said Shaw, who served as Forrest’s promoter in the past.

Forrest was a former WBC super welterweight champion. He beat Sugar Shane Mosley two times in 2002. And in September 2008, Forrest reclaimed his WBC 154-pound title by beating Sergio Mora. It was his last fight.

Nas was ordered Thursday (July 23) by a judge to pay his estranged wife (Kelis) around $44,000 a month in child and spousal support. Former NBA star Antoine Walker was arrested Thursday morning (July 16) inside the Harrah’s Casino in South Lake Tahoe. He’s being charged for owing nearly $1 million in gambling debts. According to local news station KVBC, the 32-year-old baller player had a warrant out for his arrest over $822,000 in gambling debts and faces three felony counts of writing bad check.

Apparently Wayde had a 3 year signed deal with Converse to revamp their basketball business. This Friday, Miami Heat basketball star Dwyane Wade has chosen to represent Nike’s Jumpman label instead. Doing this Wade will be joining other impressive player such as Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony and Derek Jeter.

“I grew up on the south side of Chicago idolizing Michael Jordan and have worked hard to achieve the same success that he’s had on the court,” Wade said. “I have enormous respect for this brand.”

According to ESPN “Wade told The Associated Press that he inquired about switching allegiances from Converse to Jordan’s brand before the 2008 Beijing Olympics, doing so, he said, out of concern over Converse’s long-term viability in the basketball marketplace.”
