What could my gift actually buy? 

$5 - Provides a water container to store clean drinking water.

$10 - Provides a blanket that is appropriate to the climate and culture of the disaster-affected area.

$25 - Provides a family of 5 with a kitchen set giving them the ability to coo and serve food. This includes two cooking pots, a frying pan, bowls, plates, cups and utensils.

$30 - Provides essential hygiene items like toothpaste, shampoo, body soap, toilet paper, towel, etc to 5 people for one month.

$60 - Provides tarps, rope, wood and tools for a family of five to build a temporary shelter.

$100 - Provides a cooking set, hygiene pack, blankets and water containers for one family of five following a disaster.

$500 - Provides a family tent for a family of 5.

How do I know my donation is safe? Is it going to the government?

All donations made to the American Red Cross stay within the Red Cross organization. During an international disaster, like the earthquake in Haiti, the money will be given to the International Red Cross. They will retain the donation and spend the money appropriately on deploying personnel, providing relief supplies and direct financial assistance. The Red Cross takes full responsibility of donations and all money contributed to us will be used solely by our organization. 

The Lakers showed last year that they were with out a doubt the best team in the NBA. The team led by the “Black Mamba” himself Kobe Bryant, showed just how dominant they could be by winning the NBA championship. Kobe Bryant is the best player on the Laker team, maybe the entire world some would say. However, he didn’t win the title by himself; he was helped a great deal by versatile all-star forward Lamar Odom. The chemistry between the two played a pivotal role during their quest for a championship.

However, at a recent red carpet event for the opening Philippe Chow’s fifth namesake restaurant the two went head to head with fashion. Kobe Bryant strolled down the red carpet wearing the Nike Air Yeezy in the black/grey/pink color way. It’s safe to say that the Air Yeezy was the hottest sneaker of the year. Kobe Bryant is the best on the court, but Lamar Odom came with his A game for red carpet. Lamar Odom strolled down the red carpet with the latest fresh color way of the Supra TK Society. Arguably, the TK society is the second best sneaker of the year. The navy blue/black/white color way went nice with his grown man, but relaxed outfit. There have been many debates about which of the two shoes were the best sneakers of the year. Now what Laker won this battle? VILLA sold all three color ways of the Nike Air Yeezy and the Supra TK Society is still available at select VILLA location.

After the start and halftime score, it looked like the only way Memphis could come from behind is everyone playing stronger defense and straight up scoring. Missouri was up by 13 at the half and looked on its way to the elite 8. When the lead was up to 24 points it just got worse for Tyreke Evans and the Memphis Tigers. Missouri’s J.T. Tiller scored 23 points as the battle of the tigers went Missouri’s way and in doing so ended the 27-game winning streak for Memphis. The final score was 102-91. Tyreke, you are not ready for the NBA, please to not leave college!

The Nike Hyperdunks are a hit on and off the basketball courts, but now something new is coming our way. The Nike Hypermax is a combination of features from the Hyperdunks and Air Max’s. It has a high-strap and air bubble on the side as well. Also, it was made with the Nike Flywire technology. Expect these to be in VILLA cubes May 2009.

Here is a new brand introduced at VILLA. The SUPRA’s are a hot brand and will be releasing a lot of hot sneakers this year. Here are the some SUPRA Sky Tops that will be releasing this month, plus there will be some more. These SUPRA sneakers are fire and will be available at select VILLA locations soon.

Ladies, if you like Nike Air Force 1’s than this pair is a must have. These high-top Black / Anthracite-Vrsty Purple air forces have a great look and feel. If you like what you see, these are now available at select Villa locations.

One future color combination for the Nike ACG sneakers matches the NY Mets colors with blue/orange in them. These hot kicks are due to release this January.

This weekend was a terrible one for the Philadelphia Eagles and the start of the Bowl Season in college football!

NFL: In what was a must win for the Eagles, turned out to be a loss. Going into their game, the Eagles had everything going for them. The Cowboys lost on Saturday to the Ravens and Tampa Bay loss to the Chargers on Sunday, so all the Eagles had to do was win and win next week. Unfortunately, the Eagles played a bad game and loss to the Redskins, 10-3, but technically the birds are not officially out of the playoffs. Other winners this weekend included the: Patriots, Falcons, Bengals, Saints, Titans, Dolphins, 49ers, Seahawks, Raiders, Bills, and Colts (Thursday). In what was one of the best match-ups this weekend, the Giants pulled off a victory over the Panthers.

NBA: Right now all NBA news should be placed on the Boston Celtics. With a 25 – 2 win-loss record, the Celtics are on pace to put up numbers like the famous ‘96 Chicago Bulls team. The big three in the team are playing well and one key, other starter, has been playing great as well. Rajon Rondo, the starting point guard for the C’s, has been clutch this season and just another lethal weapon on the squad. The Cavaliers, Magic, Lakers, and Blazers round up the top 5 teams of the NBA at this point of the season, with an honorable mention to the Atlanta Hawks who have a nice group of players that may be able to give Boston a run for their money again this season during the playoffs.

ELSEWHERE: In college football, the bowl games have begun. BYU, USF, Colorado State, and Wake Forest have all won their bowls games so far. In college basketball, Syracuse picked up a win over Memphis, Kansas defeated Temple, Duke trashed Xavier and UCONN slipped fasted Gonzaga this weekend. Congrats go to Tyler Hansbrough who became the scoring leader in UNC school history.

Apparently Mr. West will be taking a short break from music to become an intern. Yes, an intern! Kanye West offered his services for free to the high-end fashion line Louis Vuitton and Raf Simmons. He has always had some type of passion for fashion and Louis Vuitton is Kanye’s favorite brand. When Raf Simmons was approached with the situation, he was shocked but knew that Kanye was serious about the situation. Simmons also mentioned that the thought of West being an intern is a little extreme. Nothing is official yet, it would be nice to have something in common with Kanye, which would be being an intern. In other Kanye news, he has been seen in public giving a preview of his own clothing line which is called Pastelle.

This new Nike Mid-Top Nike Air Force 1 is bananas. The sneaker which is called the “Baltoro” has a crazy color combination with a mix of blue, black, red, and a mix of a grayish tan. The Baltoro features a Schoeller textile material on them. Another key feature is the red and black laces with the signature Air Force 1 emblem. Get your pair at your nearest Villa location on November 29th.

This version of the Nike Air Force 1 low is very reminiscent of the SB Dunk Mahogany. A great colorway, worked well in leather. Expect this AF1 to be at the Villa this November.

These Air Jordans portray a maze-like feature on the upper while still keeping the original colorway (black/white/red). This hot sneaker will release October 11th.

Over the past two weeks the Jordan 6 Rings made their debut in the timeless black/red colorway, but coming in two months is the classic “Concord” makeup. Just like the Jordan 11, the shoes feature a predominantly white upper with black patent leather, “Dark Concord” accents, and best of all, a clear sole. Expect these sneaker to hit Villa’s This October.
