ART SANCTUARY WITH NIKKI GIOVANNI
On Friday, May 28, 2010, VILLA sponsored a conversation with legendary writer, Nikki Giovanni. This event was a part of a week of literary events presented by Art Sanctuary. VILLA welcomed middle and high school students from around the city to a reading and discussion with the famed poet at the historic Church of the Advocate in North Philadelphia. Students had the opportunity to learn about Nikki Giovanni’s journey as a writer, her love for Hip Hop as an art form, and her passion for writing to empower young people. VILLA also provided gift cards for participants at the Art Sanctuary’s Celebration of Black Writing Festival on Saturday, May 29.

THE WORLD PREMIER OF VILLA’S NEXT PROJECT
VILLA’s Next Project has been an exciting journey that enabled 15 students of diverse backgrounds and interests to use the creative medium of film to document their experience and interviews with fellow students, teachers and school leaders. Students traveled to Nike’s offices in New York City to interview Que Gaskins, Director of Marketing for Nike East to learn about his dynamic career path.
HAITI RECOGNITION EVENT - GALLERY
On Monday, April 26, VILLA hosted a celebration at our Gallery location to recognize our partners and stores for raising $14,209 for Haitian Earthquake Relief. VILLA would like to say “THANK YOU!!!” to all of the wonderful customers that made a kind donation to support the victims of the Earthquakes in Haiti.
VILLA EASTER EGG HUNT WITH THE BETHLEHEM BOYS & GIRLS CLUB
Each year, VILLA teams participate in Easter Egg Hunts in their communities; generally a school, church group, or daycare center. At this particular event, children from the Bethlehem Boys & Girls Club participated in a fun-filled Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 3. VILLA store managers and team members volunteered and handed out two $25 VILLA gift cards to the winners. A great time was had by all.
