VILLA was embraced by a new community as we opened VILLA Lee Harvard Plaza in Cleveland, Ohio. VILLA invited the Cleveland Boys and Girls Club to Join the Movement as a new JTM Community Partner.

KENSINGTON & ALLEGHENY FESTIVAL
On Saturday, June 13, 2009, the rain didn’t stop the Kensington and Allegheny Market Festival. This annual festival celebrates the businesses along the Kensington and Allegheny Business district. There were many Latin performances, from salsa dancers to a live band. There was also a ROTC program there from Roxborough High School who kicked off the festivities with the Star Spangled Banner. VILLA was at the center of all of the festivities. Team members gave out lanyards and wristbands. The team was also able to sell some older merchandise such as hats and women’s flip flops. The Kensington was able to get 20 volunteers to sign up for the JTM Corps.
HIGHER GROUNDS COMMUNITY GARDEN CLEAN UP
May 16th Clean Up – All three Pittsburgh VILLA teams participated in the Higher Grounds Community Garden Clean Up. VILLA team members worked side by side with teens from Urban Youth Action, a Pittsburgh youth development organization.
